Can i afford living in an intentional community?

Published on:

Live off the land I will say since we are connected with it. And if there is no connection what is the point in living in an intentional community? You will say to escape from this consumerist society but you can’t escape it since it will follow you here, it will just have a smaller impact on you, you will be less tempted.

An intentional community is not an “get out of jail” monopoly type of card, is a reconnection to human nature, and human nature is connected to land, to weather, to a certain rhythm.

So what then? Will we all go back to agriculture? No, of course not, but we can do that also.
1. Permaculture – garden, greenhouse, orchard, animal husbandry
2. Foraging – mushrooms, plants and wild fruits, medicinal or for eating
3. Prepared foods – drying, pickeling, jam, tofu, cheese
4. Crafts – wood carving, pottery
5. Events – festivals, workshops, summer camps
6. Hospitality – hosting guests, bike trips and hikes
7. Health care – retreats, natural remedies

So by using some of these activities you can create a sustainable food source and a sustainable income stream.
But what about you and me that also can and would like to provide in other ways like art (writing, painting, knitting), photo and video documenting and marketing, taking care of children, massage and therapy, etc.?
